Guns and Drugs found on Juveniles at Pahrump Fall Festival

Nye County Sheriff's Office arrest four Pahrump juveniles for carrying illegal guns and narcotics into the Pahrump Fall Festival, and threatening another juvenile with a firearm. The suspect juveniles are of the ages 14 thru 16. All were apprehended and taken to the Clark County juvenile detention center.

Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue and Nye County Sheriff's Office respond to a Structure Fire this afternoon on Vicki Ann Road near CAAS Road. No injuries were reported at this time.

 

 

Nye County Gearing up to for Paper Ballots in Upcoming Election

Nye County Clerk Mark Kampf says his office is ready for election day. Nye County has decided to use paper ballots for the November 8th general election, which will require a new set of procedures. During a presentation to Nye County Commissioners, Kampf explained how the process will work, and what he's doing to ensure election integrity.

Sheriff Candidates Debate About The Debate - Part 1

There were plenty of fireworks before the first question in last night’s debate between Republican candidates for Nye County Sheriff. Candidate Joe McGill first proposed a debate on October 15. But Sheriff Sharon Wehrly, who’s running for another term, wanted to change the date to September 26 and change the format to more of a question and answer session. McGill wouldn’t agree to her terms and said he wouldn’t participate. He showed up for last night’s meet and greet event for Sheriff Wehrly to just watch, but was surprised he was called up to the microphone by the Sheriff. The pair had a debate about the debate format.

 

 

Two Candidates Spar in Political Debate - Part 2

The audience at last night’s debate between Sheriff Sharon Wehrly and Joe McGill quickly learned there were some clear differences between the two candidates for Nye County Sheriff. McGill says employee morale and turnover is a big problem in the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Wehrly, meanwhile, was quick to suggest there are other factors at play.

 

 

A Family Is Hoping For Public Help In Finding A Missing Person

It’s been more than two weeks since Shaun Beasley went missing after a hike on Shadow Mountain in Pahrump. And while his family continues to hope he’ll be found alive, with each passing day they’re more concerned that won’t happen. Beasley’s sister-in-law Brittanie Beasley says despite an exhaustive search effort, there’s been no signs of him.

Class Action Lawsuit Against FrontSight Continues

As we told you last night, a company called PrairieFire wants to acquire the FrontSight Firearms Training Institute south of Pahrump. FrontSight filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May. PrairieFire wants to reopen the facility under a new name, and with a new mission. FrontSight had around two-hundred thousand members, some who paid thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars for lifetime memberships. Right now, it appears they’ll lose those memberships and all the privileges that went with them. And that’s not sitting well with former Front Sight members, like Frank Van Landingham. Meantime, Las Vegas attorney Keith Greer is working with former members as he prepares to file a class-action lawsuit against FrontSight founder Doctor Ignatius Piazza.

New Company Hopes To Acquire FrontSight Firearms Training Institute In Bankruptcy

FrontSight Firearms Training Institute filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May. Now, pending approval of the courts, another company is ready to step in and bring a new type of firearms training facility to the desert south of Pahrump. Bill Wilson is a former Navy SEAL and CEO of a company called PrairieFire. His goal, to revolutionize the way people train to shoot.

 

Wilson says he envisions a place for all outdoor enthusiasts to train, experience and compete at the former FrontSight facility, which would reopen under a new name – PrairieFire Center. For more information about PrairieFire, and their plans for Pahrump, you can check out their website, prairiefire.com. Wilson says there’s no timeline for when the bankruptcy court will decide FrontSight’s future. But he hopes a decision comes before the end of the year.

Two Car Crash Sends One Person To Hospital With Injuries

One person was taken to Desert View Hospital this morning with injuries as a result of a two vehicle crash at David Street and Wilson Road. Captain Kevin Clickner from Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue says another crash at Calvada Boulevard and Idaho Street was deemed to be a rear end crash and all occupants declined to be medically transported from the scene.

German had investigated Telles over allegations that Telles was contributing to a hostile work environment and involved in an inappropriate relationship with a staffer. After the results of German's investigation were published, Telles lost his re-election bid in the Democratic primary. Sheriff Joe Lombardo held a press conference today to talk about the case that has Nevada shaken to its core.

Sheriff Sharon Wehrly and Nye County Shelter Manager Tasha Crabtree gives an update on the animal shelter and its 200 new residents from Est Alfa Kennels. The animal breeder and caretaker who were arrested last week after 33 dogs were found to be in extremely poor condition and the rest suffering from starvation and dehydration.
