But Sheriff Sharon Wehrly, who’s running for another term, wanted to change the date to September 26 and change the format to more of a question and answer session. McGill wouldn’t agree to her terms and said he wouldn’t participate. He showed up for last night’s meet and greet event for Sheriff Wehrly to just watch, but was surprised he was called up to the microphone by the Sheriff. The pair had a debate about the debate format.
The audience at last night’s debate between Sheriff Sharon Wehrly and Joe McGill quickly learned there were some clear differences between the two candidates for Nye County Sheriff. McGill says employee morale and turnover is a big problem in the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Wehrly, meanwhile, was quick to suggest there are other factors at play.

As we told you last night, a company called PrairieFire wants to acquire the FrontSight Firearms Training Institute south of Pahrump. FrontSight filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May. PrairieFire wants to reopen the facility under a new name, and with a new mission. FrontSight had around two-hundred thousand members, some who paid thousands, even tens of thousands of dollars for lifetime memberships. Right now, it appears they’ll lose those memberships and all the privileges that went with them. And that’s not sitting well with former Front Sight members, like Frank Van Landingham. Meantime, Las Vegas attorney Keith Greer is working with former members as he prepares to file a class-action lawsuit against FrontSight founder Doctor Ignatius Piazza.

Now, pending approval of the courts, another company is ready to step in and bring a new type of firearms training facility to the desert south of Pahrump. Bill Wilson is a former Navy SEAL and CEO of a company called PrairieFire. His goal, to revolutionize the way people train to shoot.
Wilson says he envisions a place for all outdoor enthusiasts to train, experience and compete at the former FrontSight facility, which would reopen under a new name – PrairieFire Center.
