Meet a triathlete who's facing the challenge of a lifetime after a dry patch of skin turns out to be an advanced form of breast cancer. While a mammogram didn't uncover Pam's cancer, it still detects a majority of breast cancers at an earlier and more treatable stage. P3 Will Offer Free Flu Vaccines for those 65 and Older

Doctors are encouraging people to get the flu shot this year because it is possible to contract both the flu and covid-19 at the same time. That scenario is being called a 'twindemic'. Flu shots do take up to two weeks to build your immunity to the flu after you receive the vaccination and everyone 6 months and older should get the flu vaccine.

 

The Physicians at P3 here in Pahrum want to help our senior community, 65 and older, some of the most vulnerable to the flu, receive their flu shot. One person was transported to Desert View Hospital today after a two vehicle crash at Highway 372 and Barney Street. Nevada Highway Patrol says the driver of the sedan will be cited.

There was a food box giveaway at Calvary Chapel Pahrump Valley today. Volunteers helped to hand out 1200 boxes of food to those in need. Memorial Celebrates Life of Local WWII Veteran Bill Dailey

Second Fire in Two Years at Former Pahrump Business

Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue is investigating the cause of a fire Sunday night that damaged part of a former commercial building on Highway 160. That building has been boarded up since being damaged by fire just last year. Fire Chief Scott Lewis tells us more. A nationwide initiative hopes to make stronger connections between local law enforcement and faith organizations and the communities they serve. It's called 'Faith and Blue.' Commissioners Request Repairs for Nye County Roads

Commissioners had an opportunity to list off roadways that require pot holes to be filled during the BOCC meeting on September 15th. NDOT to Begin Work on New Pahrump Crosswalk

Motorists can expect some short delays, as construction on a new crosswalk gets underway in Pahrump. Similar to the crosswalk on Highway 160 at Calvada Boulevard, this one will cross Highway 160 at Postal Road.

 

 

Pahrump Couple Happy to be Reunited with Their Pets

A Pahrump couple is thankful to be safely reuinted with their three pets, after a fire swept through their Tahachapi Avenue home last Sunday. Firefighters were able to rescue ChaChi, Lady Bird and Gypsy from the smoke and flames. And Donna Burchett says she and her husband Ed are so happy to have them back at their sides.

 

 

VFW Student Essay Contest Deadline October 31

The Veterans of Foreign Wars is once again giving students a chance to win some big cash prizes. Each year, the VFW sponsors two separate essay contests focused on patriotism -- one for junior high students -- the other for high schoolers. But if you'd like to enter, you need to start writing. The deadline to enter is October 31st.

Remembrance Ceremony Honors Victims of 1 October Tragedy

Today marks the third anniversary of the deadliest mass shooting in US history. On the night of October 1st, 2017, 58 people died after a gunman opened fire from his hotel room -- on the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay resort in Las Vegas -- sending more than a thousand rounds into a crowd gathered for the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival. This morning, a remembrance ceremony was held outside the Clark County Government Center.
