Pahrump Crash Knocks Out Power, Internet To More Than 1,200 Customers

A work truck snags utility lines and snaps off two poles, knocking out power and internet to a large number of customers in Pahrump's Artesia neighborhood. Pahrump Valley Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Lewis describes his department's assessment of the scene. Even though the lines were energized at the time of the crash, no injuries were reported at the scene. Valley Electric says nearly 1,200 customers lost power due to the crash. Service was restored to most of those customers about 2 1/2 hours later. The crash also damaged a broadband fiber optic line, knocking out Valley internet service to more than 2,000 customers for about 20 hours.
