Health: Teen Ballerina Dances In Nutcracker After Novel Scoliosis Surgery

If you're familiar with the Nutcracker ballet, you know how graceful and flexible the dancers must be. Now, imagine performing after having your spine surgically straightened. Meet a teen ballerina who's appearing in her first Nutcracker since undergoing a novel surgery to correct a severe scoliosis curve. Erica Foreman has more on the procedure that has her back 'en pointe.' Scoliosis is an abnormal curvature of the spine and affects about seven million people in the U.S. Doctor Goodwin says currently only a small subset of people with scoliosis are candidates for tethering, although it's a relatively new procedure and that may evolve. As for Aubrey, she's already a professional level ballerina and plans to pursue a career in the performing arts.
