An item on today's agenda involved a discussion about whether to relocate the district courts. This item got extremely heated. Judge Kim Wanker believes this is retaliation for Commissioner Bruce Jabbour's denial to being allowed to bring a weapon into the building. Jabbour is also asking the courts to pay the county back for electricity they have use for the last ten years. Judge Wanker explained this afternoon how much money she herself spends inside the court and how drug court and grants pay for a much of the court costs. The issue of moving the courts into other facilities could cost up to 2 million dollars. Court staff, attorneys and the courts would have to find another way to operate. The DA asked if commissioners had received any legal advice over any of these items and they said they had not. In the end, commissioners decided against this item.
