Mount Charleston Winter Alliance Has Winter Weather Safety Tips

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, in effect from 4:00 am until 6:00 pm Thursday. Snow is expected above 6000 feet in the Spring Mountains, Red Rock Canyon and Sheep Range. Total snow accumulations expected are 3 to 7 inches with winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Travel could be very difficult and patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Travel on Kyle and Lee Canyon Roads will become difficult and chain restrictions may be required. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 511 or go to nvroads.com. Although snow showers are anticipated, there will not be enough snow to safely support winter activities like sledding, snowshoeing, or other typical snow play activities. Nonetheless, the Mount Charleston Winter Alliance says it's important to be prepared.
