Businesses That Received CARES Act Funding Must Follow Guidelines

The Federal Coronavirus aid relief and economic security act, also known as the Cares Act, was discussed at the Board of County commissioners meeting earlier this month. Nye County was allocated close to 8.5 million dollars with small businesses being eligible for up to 50 thousand dollars in relief funds. Among the responsibility of the business owners was that paperwork had to be accurate and the funds were not to be used for revenue replacement. Samantha Kramer, Nye County grants administrator said, small businesses who don't follow the guidelines, may be in trouble. Kramer said that there was nearly one million dollars or 65 percent of the grant monies not being used in compliance with the Small Business Grant Program requirements and an additional 15 percent of recipients have partially submitted paperwork, while 20 percent have completed grant obligations.
