Nye County Board of Commissioners Chairman John Koenig lost his bid for re-election in the June Primary. But he's not done just yet. Koenig tells News 25 he's focused on a couple of big projects as his term comes to a close. Koenig lost the primary election to Republican challenger Frank Carbone. Carbone served as District 2 Commissioner from 2012 to 2016, but opted not to seek reelection at the end of his first term. Since there are no other candidates for the District 2 seat, the June primary decided the winner. Carbone will be sworn into office in December and begin his work on the Board of Commissioners in January.
