The Nye County Sheriff's Office is about to offer jail inmates an alternative to incarceration -- by allowing them to opt for electronic monitoring instead. The Board of County Commissioners has approved a contract between the sheriff's office and a company called Track Group Inc, which will provide the ankle monitors and manage the system. The sheriff's office is still developing a fee schedule, which determines what inmates will pay the county to participate in the electronic monitoring program. Commissioners will vote on that fee schedule at their next meeting.
